SOLID Project Stakeholder Workshop on Green Hydrogen and rSOC Energy Systems for Cyprus

The PHAETHON Centre of Excellence is pleased to support the upcoming SOLID Project stakeholder workshop organised by the University of Cyprus.
Workshop Title
Green Hydrogen and Reversible Solid Oxide Cell (rSOC) Energy Systems for Cyprus
📅 Date: Wednesday, 10 June 2026
🕘 Time: 10:00 – 12:30 (EEST)
💻 Format: Online (MS Teams)
Overview
The workshop will bring together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers, renewable energy developers, and broader energy stakeholders to discuss recent developments and future opportunities in green hydrogen and reversible Solid Oxide Cell (rSOC) technologies.
The SOLID project investigates innovative integrated energy systems capable of operating in two complementary modes:
- Electrolyser mode: production of green hydrogen using renewable electricity
- Fuel cell mode: conversion of stored hydrogen back into electricity and useful heat
Through this dual-mode operation, rSOC systems offer significant potential for flexible, efficient, and long-duration energy storage solutions.
Key Topics
- Reversible Solid Oxide Cell (rSOC) technology and hydrogen energy systems
- Integration of solar photovoltaics and hydrogen storage
- Techno-economic optimisation of hydrogen-based energy systems
- Thermal integration and system efficiency improvements
- Dynamic operation and degradation challenges
- Environmental and exergy considerations
- Opportunities and challenges for hydrogen deployment in Cyprus
- Future directions for integrated energy systems
Objectives of the Workshop
The workshop aims to:
- Present the main findings of the SOLID project
