The PHAETHON Centre of Excellence at the University of Cyprus is now accepting applications for fully funded PhD Studentships in cutting-edge areas of sustainable energy research. These positions offer outstanding graduates the opportunity to pursue doctoral studies within a dynamic, international, and interdisciplinary research environment.
About the Opportunity
Successful candidates will enroll as full-time PhD students at the University of Cyprus and conduct research within PHAETHON’s Research Units. Students may also benefit from joint or co-supervised PhD arrangements with leading European partner institutions, including the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and the University of Groningen, subject to eligibility and institutional approval.
PhD researchers will engage in internationally collaborative projects, with opportunities for mobility, secondments, and participation in high-impact research addressing the energy transition.
Research Areas
Applications are invited in areas aligned with PHAETHON’s research priorities, including renewable energy systems, smart grids, energy storage, sustainable built environments, artificial intelligence and machine learning for energy, digital twins, and green hydrogen technologies. Interdisciplinary proposals are particularly encouraged.
