PHAETHON CoE Delivers Hybrid Info Session on the European Master in Renewable Energy by EUREC

On 18 February 2026, the PHAETHON Centre of Excellence delivered a hybrid information session on the European Master in Renewable Energy offered by EUREC (Association of European Renewable Energy Research Centres).

The session was delivered in Greek and welcomed participants attending in person in Cyprus, as well as online attendees primarily from Greece. It provided a comprehensive overview of the programme structure, mobility opportunities across Europe, available specialisations, and detailed information on the Photovoltaics (PV) Specialisation offered at the University of Cyprus (UCY).

UCY contributes to this recognised European Master’s programme by delivering the PV Specialisation Semester through the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and PHAETHON CoE. With solar energy now the fastest-growing energy source in the European Union — recognised by the European Commission as cost-effective, clean and flexible — advanced expertise in photovoltaics is increasingly critical to meeting Europe’s energy transition objectives.

The EUREC programme is designed to train post-graduate students to bridge the gap between growing industry demand for specialised renewable energy expertise and the skills currently available on the job market. It equips graduates from Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and related fields with the knowledge and experience required to contribute to the evolving energy workforce.

The session was presented by Prof. George E. Georghiou, Director of the PV Specialisation, Dr. George Makrides, Deputy Director, and Dr. Stamatis Dimopoulos, Coordinator.

PHAETHON CoE thanks everyone who joined the session and shared their questions and thoughts. We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for this excellent European programme.

For any questions regarding the programme, interested candidates may contact Dr. Stamatis Dimopoulos at dimopoulos.stamatis@ucy.ac.cy.
