CIRCULAR-PV Engages with SOLARIS Project on LCA Harmonization

Maria Hadjipanayi (UCY) and Savannah Bennett (FZJ) represented the CIRCULAR-PV project at the 1-day workshop organised by the SOLARIS project on Life-Cycle Analysis (LCA) studies, held in hybrid mode by Fraunhofer ISE. The event aimed to create synergies between CIRCULAR-PV and SOLARIS, facilitating knowledge exchange on LCA harmonization for emerging PV technologies.Â
The workshop brought together SOLARIS partners, IEA PVPS Task 12 members, and other invited experts to discuss LCA methodologies, modeling strategies, and best practices for future photovoltaic technologies. Discussions focused on aligning approaches, improving data quality and availability, and developing consistent LCA practices across European projects.Â
The SOLARIS project, a Horizon Europe initiative, focuses on optimizing resource efficiency and sustainability across the solar PV lifecycle, from material sourcing to end-of-life and recycling strategies. By engaging with SOLARIS, CIRCULAR-PV strengthened its collaborative links with the wider European PV community, while contributing insights on circularity and environmental assessment for perovskite-based PV technologies.Â
Participation in the workshop reinforced CIRCULAR-PV’s commitment to circular, sustainable, and long-lived photovoltaic solutions, supporting the European energy transition and advancing shared goals for data harmonization, resource efficiency, and lifecycle sustainability across emerging solar technologies.Â
