The PHAETHON Centre of Excellence (CoE), University of Cyprus, is pleased to announce a new PhD Scholarship, generously sponsored by the American Medical Center (AMC), to support PhD candidates pursuing vital research in intelligent, sustainable, and efficient energy solutions.
The new full-time PhD Scholarship is offered as part of the strategic partnership between the PHAETHON Centre of Excellence and the American Medical Centre (American Heart Institute).
It is intended for highly motivated and qualified candidates interested in pursuing advanced research studies at the University of Cyprus, with the possibility of pursuing a joint PhD at the Technical University of Denmark and University of Groningen – two of the leading European institutions in energy transition and sustainability.
Scholarship Details

- Research Area: One of the following areas:

- Power Systems.
- Energy Communities.
- Renewable Energy Sources.
- Smart Grids.
- Data Analysis.
- Artificial Neural Networks, expert systems and applications to the field of energy.
- ICT applications in the field of energy.
- Green Hydrogen Technologies.
- Duration: 4 years (PhD)
- Start Date: January 2026
Eligibility Criteria
- A [Bachelor’s/Master’s] degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Strong academic performance
- Demonstrated interest in the above-mentioned research areas
- Excellent knowledge of Greek and English
